Headteacher's Welcome
I am extremely proud to be the Head of Academy at Smithies Moor.
I feel privileged to have been part of the school community for the past eight years, and I am passionate about ensuring every child at Smithies Moor is given the chance to develop a curiosity and knowledge of the world, which will enable them to achieve in many aspects of life.
I offer a warm welcome to Mr Sowter, our new Executive Headteacher and Mrs Shaw, our new Deputy headteacher who will be working alongside myself and with the Smithies Moor team to drive success at the academy. Together we will succeed, working with all of our children, the wider community and our families who are at the heart of everything we do.
Our aim is to encourage all children’s love of learning and to set this in purposeful contexts which develop enquiring minds and independence whilst raising aspirations. We will develop our values to show we care and do what matters most. We carefully plan a curriculum that engages children’s curiosity in the world around them and encourages them to develop key skills which will prepare them for the world of work. As a community, it is therefore our responsibility to work together to ensure that every child is given the best opportunities to do this. I welcome your support in achieving this in the coming months and years so we can succeed together.
Our work will be to improve attendance, behaviours for learning and ensure our curriculum is delivered to the children so they can always be their best self in everything they do. Every child deserves opportunities to improve their outcomes in their primary years and beyond.
As an academy, we will continue to be committed to promoting and living by our Co-op Values, and to working cooperatively to provide the best possible education for all.
